The Room

I came upon this awesome story, a dream really. Only in the hope of finding a website for it, so that I wouldn't have to post it in it's entirety, did I realize it has become an urban legend of sorts.

The story has become so popular, in large part, because of this tragedy:
17-year-old Brian Moore had only a short time to write something for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes meeting. He showed the essay, titled "The Room" to his mother, Beth, before he headed out the door. "I wowed 'em." he later told his father, Bruce. "It's a killer. It's the bomb. It's the best thing I ever wrote." It also was the last.

Brian Moore died May 27, 1997. While driving, his car went off the road and struck a utility pole. He emerged from the wreck unharmed but stepped on a downed power line and was electrocuted. "I think God used him to make a point. I think we were meant to find it and make something out of it," Mrs. Moore said of the essay.

The problem is, while it is true that Brian Moore died just that way, he was not the true author of the story, Josh Harris is the rightful author.

Regardless, this is a wonderful story/dream & while the proper author did not get recognition, initially, the urban legend aspect of this has made it possible for many people to read this.

Here is the story in it's entirety:

Thanks for that, Alesia. This is one I'm going to pass onto the OL. I might even print it out for distribution - or to keep reminding myself!

Alesia,
Wow is all I can say! Are you a professional web designer or something???
Really great stuff, no wonder you have not been posting as much laterly.
You going to have to teach me to do just 1 tenth of what you have done.
Suitable impressed friend in Christ

Thanks Jeri!

I put together this blog to help others. In doing so, I helped myself immensely in searching for & learning about suitable study material - go figure.

It was fun (and trying, at times)learning how to put it all together. Please ask away if you ever want to know how to do something, I'm more than happy to help!
